Game Description:
Deep Treasure Hunter is an simple math game designed to teach Grade 5 students how to calculate and measure area in a geometric-style environment. Students can gain practice recognizing area by quickly counting and multiplying square units.
A Fun Treasure Hunting Game with Mathematics
Deep Treasure Hunter is one of the few interactive math games that combines a treasure hunting theme with area mathematics.
The gameplay is rather straightforward. The student is presented with a question about area size and a grid with four colored shapes, one of which is the correct answer to the question. Each correct answer will enable the treasure hunter to reel in the colored gems from within the corresponding square units. There is a total of 10 questions per gaming session.
For instance, one question might be something like this: “Which color shape has an area of 18 square units?” or “Which color shape has an area of 10 square units?” All you have to do is tap the shape that answers the question by calculating the number of square units in the shape.
Use Area Measurements to Solve Math Problems
Deep Treasure Hunter is an “area math game” for practicing measurements by multiplying the length and width of a given rectangular unit. Keep in mind that it is a more than basic math game, which is why it is geared toward Grade 5 students, or elementary students who already possess above-average math skills.
How to Play
- Wait for the title screen to load. Tap the PLAY button.
- You are immediately presented with a game screen featuring a red-bearded digger holding a swaying rope. There are geometric shapes with different colored gems inside the ground underneath him.
- Answer the area question at the top of the screen by selecting the appropriate shape in the ground with the correct number of square units. Make sure you tap the correct shape as the swaying rope points toward it.
- If you choose the correct color shape, the treasure hunter character will toss the rope toward it and reel in the gems from within the shape.
Educational Benefits
- Gain practice conducting area calculations and measurements
- Recognize the area dimensions of squares and rectangles by counting the number of squares within them
- Achieve a fun goal of helping the treasure hunter obtain colorful gems.
