Game Description:
Octopus Rescue is a fraction comparison game designed specifically for Grade 5 students. They can practice telling the difference between high and low fractions in an interactive game starring a cute purple octopus.
Learn Fractions on an Ocean Adventure
Octopus Rescue will take 5th grader students on an ocean adventure to learn fractions with a friendly octopus. The primary challenge of the game is to examine fractions and determine how their values are different from one another.
The game begins with a purple octopus in the middle of the screen with its eight legs locked onto the bottom of the ocean floor. Each leg contains two fractions that you have to compare against one another. The objective is to choose the greater fraction on each leg to score a point and unlock the leg. You win if you can successfully manage to unlock all eight legs and free the octopus from the bottom of the ocean.
For instance, one leg might show something like “Which fraction is greater? 2/3 vs 3/4.” The correct answer would be 3/4 because it is greater than 2/3. The more students practice answering these fraction problems, the more they will understand how to tell high and low fractions apart.
Gamified Way to Develop Mathematical Reasoning Skills
Homeschool and classroom students can easily enhance their mathematical reasoning skills by understanding how to read fractions and determine which ones are greater and which ones are smaller. Meanwhile, the colorful graphics and animations will keep children enthusiastic about practicing to differentiate various competing fractions.
